Teal Nude (2009)
acrylic on canvas panel
11" x 14"
$500
One in an ongoing series of nudes and semi-nudes. Total painting time was about 19 hours.
You can watch my painting process in timelapse, and there's also an early comp of this painting.
One of my favorite things to do is obscure faces, or have figures looking away. I'm not a big fan of images where the figure is looking directly at the camera (something that's very typical of pin-up drawings). And so usually I'll paint figures looking down, or looking to the side, or turning away so all you can see is the back of the head -- anything except looking directly at the viewer.
I didn't have anything specific in mind when I painted this one, except maybe that.
