Faceless Nude (2009)
acrylic on canvas panel
8" x 10"
One in an ongoing series of nudes and semi-nudes. Total painting time was around 10 hours. There's also an early comp of this painting you can view.
So why does the woman have no face? I'm really not sure. The painting just came out of my head like that, and it didn't feel right painting one in. Maybe there are secrets in there I don't know about.
Incidentally, here's an odd little factoid about the colors:
The blue I used for this was an old tube of Prussian Blue I had leftover from school, a color which, I didn't realize at the time, has since been discontinued by Liquitex due to supplier shortage, and replaced with the newly synthesized "Prussian Blue Hue."
Which means that this is probably my last painting to use with the pure original form of Prussian Blue.
Well, Liquitex brand, at least.
