A painting in the vein (or trying to be!) of an old hardboiled paperback cover. Total painting time was 12 hours.

There's also an early comp of this painting. You can see the initial color scheme, which was the initial basis for the painting (crimson against a yellowish olive green), though I changed the pose completely in the final version.
